TONY FRIEDRICH

Tony is a 28 year old bodybuilder from Missouri who competed
at the 2006 NPC Jr. Nationals, and most recently at the 2009 NPC
Southern States Bodybuilding Championships in Fort Lauderdale,
where we met Tony and photographed him. Tony stands 5'9.5" tall
and competes at a weight of 215 lbs. (he is 255 lbs. off-season).
He has competed many other contests, including 2003 NPC Red River
Classic (1st Novice Heavyweight), 2004 NPC Mid-Illinois (3rd
Heavyweight), 2004 NPC Caveman Classic (1st Novice Heavyweight and
1st Open Heavyweight), 2006 NPC Eastern Seaboard (1st Open
Heavyweight), 2006 NPC Junior Nationals (NP), 2008 NPC Missouri
State (1st Open Heavyweight and Overall Mr. Missouri), 2009 NPC
Junior Nationals (NP), and 2009 NPC Southern States (8th Open
Heavyweight). Tony is a personal trainer with AFAA certification.
He also has an active sports background. Tony played competitive
ice hockey from the age of 10 years old on through his senior year
of high school. When he graduated high school, Tony was 150 lbs.
Although Tony tried out and made the team his freshman year of
college, he decided however that he would rather be a bodybuilder
and did not play. He started lifting weights at 18 years of age.
Mandatory workouts were implemented for the ice hockey team and he
has always been an all or nothing type of guy. After training for a
few months, the results Tony had achieved made him want more.
Freshman year of college is when Tony got more serious with his
training and focused on one day competing. And so he did! Tony's
pre-contest measurements at 235 lbs. were biceps 19", quads 28",
chest 52", waist 32.5", neck 18.5", forearms 15" and calves 17.5".
